About This Place

Nestled in the charming heart of Halesite, NY, Sal D's is a standout Italian restaurant that effortlessly blends classic flavors with a warm, inviting atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re craving a cozy dinner in or eager to take home an authentic Italian feast, Sal D’s offers an impressive menu that celebrates the richness of traditional Italian cuisine with a fresh, contemporary flair.

Here, the culinary craftsmanship shines through every dish. The Chicken Parmigiana is a perennial favorite — tender, golden chicken cutlets smothered in vibrant tomato sauce and melted mozzarella, delivering a comforting bite that warms the soul. Equally enticing is the Eggplant Rollatini, praised by guests like Linda “Linny” Ryland as the best on Long Island, featuring delicate layers of eggplant wrapped around luscious ricotta and baked to perfection. The rigatoni a la vodka with chicken cutlets is a heavenly marriage of creamy tomato sauce and tender, flavorful poultry, perfectly portioned as Liza Amin experienced. For those seeking seafood, the Sea Scallops Piccata served with crisp vegetables offers a bright, zesty profile that sings with freshness.

Sal D’s truly shines with their specials, which showcase a culinary adventurousness while honoring Italian roots. From the rich, layered Lasagna and homemade Cavatelli Alla Rabe to the indulgent Lobster Tail & Shrimp Scampi and hearty Pork Osso Buco, each plate promises an unforgettable journey of taste. The appetizers—like Burrata and Sal D's Spring Rolls—start your meal on a decadent note, and the rustic soups such as Pasta Fagioli and Minestrone allow for a hearty, comforting start or satisfying finish.

The dining atmosphere is vibrant yet intimate, blending casual warmth with attentive, personalized service. Reviewers consistently highlight the exceptional staff—whether it’s Emily providing thoughtful care during busy lunch hours, or bartender Frank whose graciousness enhances the evening with perfect drinks and genuine hospitality. This attention to detail ensures guests feel truly welcomed and cared for, making every meal a celebration.

What truly elevates Sal D's beyond just excellent flavors is the palpable passion behind the kitchen doors, echoed in every satisfied review and every returning customer. Whether you’re indulging in the signature Steak Au Poivre, savoring the brightness of a Spring Asparagus Salad, or finishing with a decadent Neopolitan Tartufo, the experience feels crafted and personal. Sal D’s isn’t just a meal—it’s a heartfelt homage to Italian tradition and a vibrant staple in the Halesite dining scene.

For lovers of genuine Italian food served with warmth and expertise, Sal D’s is a destination that promises to satisfy your cravings and your spirit alike. From the first bite to the friendly send-off, it’s clear this is a place where food, family, and community come together perfectly.

We came here for weekday lunch. Our server Emily was amazing! She was exceptionally personable and communicated with us about delays in the kitchen since the restaurant was serving a large party. She continued to check up on us and was very sweet. Eggplant rollatini and cheesy garlic bread were delicious appetizers. For entrees, we had the penne alla vodka (portion was a bit smaller than expected) as well as the chicken marsala, chicken parm, and arugula pie, which were all good. This place is a bit pricy but it is an upper/mid range Italian restaurant. The actual dining area is cozy and intimate. They have a cute bar area upon walking in. Parking lot is a bit cramped but doable. We had a great time!

Great food at reasonable price. Had lobster/scallop special. There was so much lobster meat. And, the bread was great.

Could not have asked for a better dining experience! Food was very tasty and had great service from all the staff. The staff make you feel like family from the moment you walk through the front door. Decided to try the Burrata and Combo Della Casa (lasagna, eggplant rollatini and meatballs). Both were on the Specials Menu for the night and were absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were great, so had leftovers for lunch the next day. Value for price is very good and could have easily shared both. The restaurant is very clean, comfortable and cozy. Thanks to Nick, Frankie and Giovanni for a great dining experience. Can’t wait to go back for another fantastic meal spent with “family.”
